Leopard sighting at Kumana National Park
After almost three hours looking for leopards we were returning from the afternoon safari. The light was fading fast and we were in a rush to get back to the bungalow. In Sri Lanka, there is a rule that visitors had to return to the bungalow before 6. We were on time. But he had other ideas. We spotted him perhaps less than a kilometer from our destination. He was so relaxed and did not mind us being so close. However our tracker was getting worried that we were not going to make the 6:00 o'clock deadline and he would be in trouble for being late. Finally when he started to move it it was almost dark. I was switching the long lens out when he got up. The big cat seems to changes his mind and got back into the road when our tracker suggested that we switch on our headlights to encourage him to go back into the Bush. he did eventually move back into the jungle . but This was not the end of the show.
